Senior Lead Brief Writer

Senior Lead Brief Writer

Aeton Law Partners is conducting a nationwide search for the right candidate to fill our lead brief writing and research position. This is a senior associate position.  This position would support the active trial practice of three partners.  Former big law experience is preferred but not required.  Connecticut or New York admission preferred but not required.  Willingness to waive in or gain Connecticut admission is expected.

Aeton has a very active and diverse litigation practice. Matters range from complex personal injury to first impression matters in commercial litigation.  Our practice is active in state and federal court.  Some examples of recent briefing and research include: whether individual arbitration clauses prevent class actions in given circumstances; statute of limitations waivers under newly enacted statues in sex abuse cases; veil piercing analysis of three states for novel theory of horizontal piercing; historical rules of tenants in common versus tenants in the entirety on bank accounts; retaliation claims under First Amendment for matters of public concern.

Superior research skills are required.  This is not a position for someone who gets their assignments close to right and leaves it to the partner to verify.  We are involved in complex matters against other large law firms. These firms frequently out number us with numerous associate attorneys assigned to their teams.  We need this position to reliably get research done correctly, under time deadlines, and in high stakes cases.

Excellent writing skills are required. We require every candidate to submit multiple samples of brief writing from real cases in the “as filed” format.  Samples available on Pacer are preferred.  Aeton is looking for the right candidate to also take lead on implementing a uniform approach to brief writing across all platforms with some supervision and training. Although procedures are in place, the right candidate will have the opportunity for input on a uniform approach and training.  Although not required, oral arguments are possible if there is interest.

This position can be fully remote from anywhere in the US for the right candidate.

Please send your resume and two examples of brief writing and pleadings from actual cases.
