The term “Aeton” means swift and efficient. The goal of Aeton Law Partners is to provide our clients with professionally aggressive legal services by trusted and experienced attorneys in an honest, swift, and efficient manner. Our attorneys handle litigation, trials and transactions throughout Connecticut in a variety of matters including business, employment, technology, insurance, serious personal injury, and criminal law.

Our attorneys will seek to earn your trust and confidence through the services we deliver and the personal commitment to your legal problems. We do not sell legal services as a product. Rather, when you hire Aeton, you are entering into a professional client relationship where we provide the technical legal skills, but also our personal commitment to your legal case.

Our attorneys provide the depth of knowledge and case handling expected of large law firm attorneys, but with the personalized attention and competitive rates afforded by our small, boutique firm.
  • Our partners are rated AV Preeminent by their peers, which is the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards as determined by Martindale-Hubbell.
  • Our partners include former partners at large law firms, published authors, and the immediate past president of the Connecticut Bar Association
  • Our attorneys have been included in the select listing of outstanding attorneys in Connecticut and New England by Super Lawyers.
  • Our lawyers are recognized as “Top-Rated Lawyers” by The American Lawyer and Corporate Counsel magazines.
  • Our attorneys have been selected as “Top Attorneys” by both Connecticut Magazine and Hartford Magazine.

Our litigation and trial attorneys include two former prosecutors as well as attorneys with training and experience from prominent law firms. Our lead trial attorneys are N. Kane Bennett and Jonathan Shapiro.  Attorney Bennett has completed over 50 trials with jury trials in multiple states.  He received his initial trial experience and training as a prosecuting attorney and subsequently continued his training at one of Connecticut’s largest litigation and trial law firms.  Attorney Shapiro has completed over 50 trials in a variety of matters.  He received trial experience and litigation training at one of Connecticut’s top large law firms.  He has logged more than 75 days of trial in 2019 alone and is in the middle of one of the longest trial proceedings of record in a business trade secret case.  Attorneys Bennett and Shapiro are joined by experienced trial attorneys Nate Baber, Evan Buchberger, Chris Folsom, Brian Ward, and Dean Hanafin.

Whether working together as part of a team or individually, they handle lawsuits and trials for individuals, corporations, small businesses, and insurance companies.

We also frequently get involved in unique and specialized areas of law on a case-by-case basis. We handle cases throughout Connecticut, in state and federal court. We also handle select matters in Massachusetts and New York and several other states with assistance of local counsel. We have handled cases in Delaware, California, New York, Wisconsin, Massachusetts and Arizona to name a few. We further serve as local counsel in Connecticut to other attorneys nationwide seeking to bring claims in Connecticut.

At Aeton, our Connecticut business lawyers provide transactional legal services to entrepreneurs and startups, small business owners, and mature companies on all types of transactional legal matters and general business law. We represent all business sectors and provide services to include general counsel legal services, employment counseling, business formation, corporate governance documents, commercial transactions, loan closing and business financing, and the purchase and sale of businesses by asset purchase or stock purchase. Our transactional attorneys work with local and high-level tax professionals, forensic accountants, and business accountants to provide a team approach to business transactions.

We also draft and negotiate all types of contracts and merger and acquisition documents including asset purchase agreements, stock purchase and redemption agreements, business succession documents, partnership agreements, operating agreements, executive compensation agreements, and physician contracts and agreements. We further provide a range of transactional services for technology businesses including privacy policies, terms of use, Internet polices, vendor agreements, independent contractor agreements, confidentiality agreements, master services agreements, software audit defense, and software asset management plans.

We are regularly hired to handle various types of employment lawsuits and disputes. In particular, clients hire our attorneys to draft, review, and defend or bring lawsuits involving non-compete agreements, non-solicitation agreements, and non-disclosure agreements. We also have represented several companies and individuals involving claims of theft of trade secrets, stealing client and customer lists, and computer data. We work with experts to reconstruct “inside” jobs involving theft of data and client lists.

In corporate disputes involving shareholder’s rights, breach of fiduciary obligations, and dissolution, we represent companies, officers and directors, and individual shareholders in pre-suit negotiations and in active litigation. We bring and defend dissolution actions involving claims of oppression by shareholders and breach of shareholder agreements. We also get hired to resolve disputes between partners and members of limited liability companies before the disputes escalate to a lawsuit. A typical case might involve breach of an operating agreement, judicial dissolutions, self-dealing or theft of funds, or violation of common law fiduciary duties or statutory duties of good faith and fair dealing. We have handled many cases through to trial involving partnership disputes or “business divorces” and break ups.

Our attorneys have years of experience investigating and handling serious personal injury and wrongful death claims. Our cases typically involve serious injuries or wrongful death from car or auto accidents, motorcycle accidents, truck accidents, fires, explosions, construction site accidents, defective products, and defective property, and industrial accidents. We have worked with experts from across the country to support our cases in all areas including engineering, cause and origin, standard of care, and biomechanics.

We defend clients on a range of criminal defense matters, such as computer crimes, computer fraud and abuse, financial crimes, white collar crime, and driving under the influence, in the Middletown and Hartford areas and throughout Connecticut. Our attorneys handle defense of ethics charges from municipalities or the office of state ethics against elected officials and professionals. We further handle professional and regulatory discipline matters for professionals including physicians, nurses and others. We have significant experience representing and advising physicians on contractual issues and medical staff privileges.

Our attorneys provide counseling on all facets of the law related to software, hardware, IT consulting, outsourcing, intellectual property and technology development.

Our lead technology transactions attorney, David Benoit, is AV peer review rated. He has personally drafted and negotiated over $2.5 billion dollars in technology transactions on behalf of clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to technology startups. His training and experience was gained from working at a large law firm and in the corporate law department of a global financial services corporation.

We handle many different types of civil litigation involving the Internet. These claims can include defamation, online harassment, invasion of privacy, copyright infringement and infliction of emotional distress. Many of these claims require the understanding and gathering of electronic evidence. Our attorneys bring the experience necessary to pursue and defend these claims. We have represented several individuals, school-aged children, and professionals targeted for online harassment, revenge porn, and stalking.
